A remnant of a country long forgotten, the Brotherhood of Steel is a quasi-religious technological military order operating across the ruins of post-War North America, with its roots stemming from the United States Armed Forces and the government-sponsored scientific community from before the Great War.

The Pahrump Detachment[]

The Pahrump Detachment, which you play as in-game, was dispatched under Elder Elijah prior to the Brotherhood's defeat and consequent withdrawal to Hidden Valley. Playing as them, you will continue your mission, working to establish a small but covert presence in the area, all the while adhering to the Codex and upholding the ideals for which the Brotherhood stands.

While carrying out their mission, Brotherhood players should work to reconnoiter the environs of the Bunker, and conduct long-range patrol or recce missions while keeping an eye out for high-value target locations for technological salvage operations. Such locations would include bunkers constructed before the Great War, which typically house various forms of pre-War technology, some of which could be critical or otherwise worthwhile for the Brotherhood to claim-- or prevent from falling into the hands of those with ill-intent.

History[]

The Brotherhood's western command bunker is located in Hidden Valley, directly east of the settlement of Goodsprings in the Mojave Wasteland. It is surrounded by powerful underground fans that serve as a high-tech defence system, creating artificial sandstorms which allow the inhabitants to travel to and from the bunker undercover. It also serves as a kind of electronic disturbance to any and all outside factions' targeting sensors, therefore rendering the bunker safe from detection.

Prior to 2276 the Mojave Brotherhood had been increasingly active in the region before their crippling defeat at HELIOS-1 by the NCR Forces. After their Defeat, they were forced underground on the orders of their new leader Elder McNamara. Due to a complete lockdown ordered to preserve what remaining soldiers he had, McNamara relies solely on teams that were trapped outside of the bunker for intelligence and trusted undercover operatives to bring food and supplies back to those trapped inside.
